Natacha Seijas was elected to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners in 1993 becoming the first Hispanic woman to sit on the County Commission. She represents District 13 which includes Hialeah, Miami Lakes, Palm Springs North, Country Club and other areas of unincorporated Miami-Dade. She was most recently reelected on August 31, 2004. Bill curbs Coloradans' freedom to choose By By Darrin Andersen
House Bill 1310, proposed by Rep. Mark Ferrandino, D-Denver, would eliminate payday lending in Colorado, denying hundreds of thousands of Coloradans access to a service they have used and value.
Payday loans are typically two-week loans with an average fee in Colorado of $17 per $100. To apply a 45 percent annual percentage rate, as proposed in the legislation, would be equivalent to a maximum fee of $1.73 per $100 borrowed for the two-week transaction - less than 13 cents a day.
